Healthy Sour Cream and Onion Dip. A healthy, low fat, high protein dip that’s perfect for chips, pretzels, veggies, and more!
When I was younger my dad used to always make a cream cheese based onion dip to go with potato chips – and man oh man was it addictive! We’d all be going back for spoonfuls after spoonful!
And though it’s great to have every now and then, I wanted to create a chip dip that was similar, yet more conducive to people’s health goals. So enter this Healthy Sour Cream and Onion Dip!
My secret to this dip is using greek yogurt blended with cottage cheese. It is still super creamy, yet packs a healthy amount of protein and a lot less calories than traditional cream cheese. Then I add in onion flakes and garlic powder and voila – this uber addictive dip is ready!
I chose onion flakes over onion powder because of the more vibrant flavor and slight texture they provide. I highly recommend using onion flakes when you make this, but you could probably sub in onion powder if you can’t find flakes.
I love to use this dip on all kinds of chips, pretzels, and vegetables. It would also work great spread onto sandwiches or in wraps! What ways can you dream up to use this dip? Let me know in the comments!
